As part of the ongoing growth and expansion of the population around the Narangba area, a green field site was chosen for a new early learning centre. ATTAIN was engaged to complete all the earthworks and civil works on the project as early package were let and prior to the subdivision area being opened up to the public.
Working with initial designs, ATTAIN identified some major issues with levels and bulk earthworks during construction and propsoed a range of alternatives to keep costs down and complete a value engineering assessment of the changes and solutions.
The scope of works included all site stripping, bulk earthworks with net import of materials of over 700m3, civil stormwater, retaining wall construction, detention tank installation and roadbase to carpark areas in readiness for concrete pavements.
The civil stormwater on this project had a significant detention tank system which outflow to the legal point of discharge in the newly constructed road side gully unit (by others). Due to the early works nature of the project and the need for fast execution and a myriad of design changes during construction, a major hurdle was encountered with the route of the stormwater from detention tank to roadside gully unit – there was a 900 diametre water mains directly in the alignment. Trouble shooting and solving this challenge required active discussion and communication with the builder and designer to propose a solution that allowed the stormwater to be routed under the water mains putting excavations to around 3.5m deep.
Also included in ATTAINs scope of work was the construction of the perimeter concrete sleeper retaining wall, whilst only 1 metre high, had 150UC posts that extended 1.8m above the wall to accomodate a sound proof wall in-fill. over 70 lineal metres of wall was constructed and then backfilled by the team.
ATTAIN also completed all detailed excavations for all block work retaining wall footings and all erosion and sediment controls on the project.
